Cartersville Man Killed In Hit-And-Run Accident

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the collision, which was reported Dec. 1 on Rolling Hills Drive SW.

CARTERSVILLE, GA — The Georgia State Patrol is investigating a fatal, two-vehicle crash reported Saturday morning in Bartow County. Troopers were dispatched around 5:55 a.m. Dec. 1 to the accident on Rolling Hills Drive SW, which is located off Ga. 61 in unincorporated Cartersville.

According to a preliminary report released by the state patrol, a witness reported a vehicle was backing out of a private driveway onto Rolling Hills Drive when it struck a motorcycle operated by Russell Steven Carr, 34.

Following the crash, a witness said the driver and others in the area were able to remove the vehicle off Carr, who was pronounced dead following the crash.

According to the report, the driver of the first vehicle "left the scene," and was last observed traveling south on Rolling Hills Drive.

No other details have been made available at this time. The Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is investigating the accident.
