Cartersville Man 'Blacked Out' Before Fatal Crash: Mom
The woman, a passenger inside the van, told Cobb County police that her son was driving when he "blacked out" and crashed into a tree.

CARTERSVILLE, GA — A Cartersville man died Tuesday evening in a single-vehicle crash in Acworth, the Cobb County Police Department said. Officers with the department were dispatched to the crash on Cobb Parkway at Bridgewater Drive around 9:50 p.m. Sept. 25.
A preliminary investigation indicates a maroon 1994 Chevrolet Astro Van was traveling southbound on Cobb Parkway when it left the roadway, "continued across a landscaped area in front of the Bridgewater subdivision and then struck a large tree," Cobb police spokesperson Officer Sarah O'Hara said.
The driver of the van, Charles Crews, 52, of Cartersville, was pronounced dead at the scene. His mother and passenger, 79-year-old Marjorie Crews, also of Cartersville, was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital for treatment.
