Cartersville Mom Gives Her All To Care For Daughter With Half A Heart

CARTERSVILLE, GA— Moms do so much for everyone around them. We try to celebrate them all year long, but Mother's Day is a perfect opportunity to shout it from the rooftops and post it on Patch: Mom rocks!

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize the awesome moms and mom figures in communities like yours.

What makes your mom extra special?

My name is Malauna and I’m only 3 years old so Nana is helping me write this! My mom is super special because I was born with a condition called hypoplastic left heart syndrome which basically means I only have half a heart! I had to have my first of many open heart surgeries after birth and my mommy never left my side and always prays for me and gives me the best hugs when I don’t feel good! Even with my condition, my mommy has always allowed me to be as normal as any other kid and never put limits on me or treated me differently! She helps me be strong and always puts me and my baby brother and sister first! I love her so much and want her to know what an amazing mommy she is!

Why do you feel your mom deserves the spotlight?

Because it’s not easy taking care of a sick child who requires lengthy hospital stays and open heart surgeries but my mommy does it and makes life so much better
