Cartersville Senior Waves Gun, Charged With Terroristic Threats

According to authorities, complainants said the 84-year-old man pointed a revolver at them and threatened to "take back the neighborhood."

CARTERSVILLE, GA — An 84-year-old man who authorities said was intimidating people outside his home with a revolver was arrested for aggravated assault and terroristic threats.

Brumby William Massey, who lives on Shadow Lane near Cartersville, told a Bartow County Sheriff’s deputy on Friday that he carried a gun but didn’t threaten anyone with it.

Witnesses told the deputy a different story, according to WBHF Community Radio.

Three complainants — including one who was Massey’s stepchild — said Massey walked up to them in his yard, said he would “take back the neighborhood” and that he would kill them. The three said Massey was waving a revolver, and he pointed it at each of them.

A witness told the Bartow deputy that she didn’t hear the threat but did see Massey point his gun at the trio.
