A Winter Weather Advisory in effect for Bartow and other north Georgia counties from 10 p.m. Friday to 7 p.m. Saturday warns of light snow north of a line from Rome to Canton to Gainesville to Homer. 

Half inch to inch accumulations are possible, with more in higher elevations.

Snow and slick roads could impact travel as temps drop below freezing.

In Cartersville, less than a half inch of snow is possible, according to the NWS forecast, which predicts a 60 percent chance of rain Friday night and Saturday and lows of 31 and 27, respectively. Saturday's high is expected to reach 47.

A freeze warning remains in effect for Bartow and other north and central Georgia counties from midnight Friday to 9 a.m. Saturday.

An upper level disturbance moving into north Georgia tonight will allow for the chance of wintry precipitation across north Georgia tonight, mainly north of a Carrollton-to-Marietta-to-Gainesville line," according to NWS' hazardous weather outlook.  "A mix of rain and snow is forecast across the western portions of north Georgia while the mix will transition to mainly snow across northeast Georgia late tonight.

Generally a half inch or less of accumulation is expected mainly in far north Georgia.

Portions of north and central Georgia could see some snow flurries or a wintry mix as temps drop headed into the weekend.

Overnight freezing temps are expected through Sunday night, and Friday night and Saturday hold slight chances of precipitation, according to the National Weather Service, which issued a freeze warning that includes Cartersville and Bartow County. It's effective through 9 a.m. Friday.

"A fast-moving but potent upper low sweeping across the Tennessee Valley and southern Appalachians [on] Saturday will bring a chance for at least light wintry precipitation to north Georgia," according to NWS' Hazardous Weather Outlook. "Any accumulations are expected to remain light at this time. Generally a half inch or less mainly across far north Georgia with up to an inch at the highest elevations of the far northern mountains. 

"In addition, very cold overnight low temperatures are expected to continue across the area through Sunday night with a hard freeze possible across north Georgia [on] Saturday night."

In Cartersville, expect a 20 to 30 percent chance of rain/snow Friday night and Saturday night, when the low is expected to dip to 28, according to the NWS forecast.
