Cheapest Gas in Town

The national average gas price seems to be inching up again, according to AAA's Fuel Guage Report. For a gallon of regular unleaded, it was $2.86 this time last year. Currently, it's about $3.75, up 12 cents from last week and 23 cents from last month.

Locally, gas is about $3.53 or more per gallon. The RaceTrac at Baker Rd SE and Joe Frank Harris Pkwy has it for $3.52, as does the QuikTrip at Joe Frank Harris Pkwy SE and Grassdale Road and TA on Cassville-White Road near I-75 Exit 296.

Another way to save at the pump is by taking advantage of grocery stores' discount cards. Kroger, which has gas for $3.53 per gallon, offers 10-cent savings per gallon on a single fuel purchase for every $100 spent on groceries in a month.
