Child Helps Woman Steal Pants; Meth; Fleeing: Cartersville Crime
A child helped a woman steal a pair of pants, drugs, and fleeing from police were all on the most recent Cartersville crime report.
CARTERSVILLE, GA -- The Cartersville Police Department provided the following information about recent incidents in the city. Arrests do not equal convictions.
According to police reports:
- A 33-year-old woman was arrested on June 5 and charged with theft by shoplifting-misdemeanor. The woman and her juvenile daughter shoplifted a pair of pants from Kohl's, located at 600 E. Main Street, valued at $40 dollars. The complainant stated that he observed the woman take the hard plastic security tab off of the pants. The juvenile then placed the pants into her purse while she was in the footwear area of the store. The complainant waited for the juvenile to leave the store before asking her to come back inside. The pants were recovered by the complainant inside the store from the purse. The complainant stated that he did not wish to press charges on the juvenile at the time of report. A copy of the video and a store receipt were
obtained at the scene and later entered into evidence at the Cartersville Police Department. - A 50-year-old man was arrested on June 6 and charged with probation violation.
- A 38-year-old man was arrested on June 6 and charged with driving while license suspended or revoked and no insurance.
- A 44-year-old man was arrested on June 5 and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of meth-ingestion, possession of cocaine by ingestion, marijuana-possess less than 1 oz, marijuana possession by ingestion, resisting willful obstruction of law enforcement officers. While patrolling the parking lot of Parkway North (1400 Joe Frank Harris Parkway), near the 200 building, an officer recognized a man who was wanted through Bartow County and Kentucky. The man ran when police questioned him. The officer saw the man reaching in his pockets while dropping items behind him. The officer un-holstered his TASER, turned the power on, and pointed it at the man while giving him loud verbal commands to get on the ground. The officer came across a clear plastic bag containing a green leafy substance – suspected to be marijuana – located in the man's right front pocket. While conducting a walk-through of the path and area that the man took as he ran the officer said he found a Bluetooth speaker, the man's cellphone, toilet paper, and a set of paper containing miscellaneous writing. During this walk-through, he came across a small trash can with a clear plastic bag containing a white crystalline substance – suspected to be methamphetamine.
