Christmas Tree Recycling Returns To Allatoona Lake

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is accepting live trees for recycling at seven drop-off locations through Jan. 2, 2019.

CARTERSVILLE, GA — The Allatoona Lake Project Management Office is accepting live Christmas trees for recycling through the new year.

You can drop off trees through Jan. 2, 2019, at seven drop-off locations around the lake. Please note that artificial trees will not be accepted.

  • Allatoona Operations Project Management Office, 1138 GA Highway 20 Spur, Cartersville
  • Victoria Day-Use Parking Area, 955 Victoria Landing Drive, Woodstock
  • Galts Day-Use Parking Area, 7299 Rocky Lane, Acworth
  • Sweetwater Campground Overflow Parking Area, 1400 Fields Chapel Road, Canton
  • Payne Boat Ramp, 2495 Kellogg Creek Road, Acworth
  • Blockhouse 1 Fishing Jetty (behind Paw Paw’s Convenience Store at 6817 N. Main Street SE, Acworth)
  • Bethany Bridge Fishing Jetty Parking Area, 444-476 Red Top Mountain Rd SE, Cartersville

All drop-off sites will be marked with signs and flagging tape. All decorations – tinsel, lights, garland, bulbs, etc. – must be removed from the trees before dropping them off. If you're going to use this service, place the trees in the designated locations in the parking lots. Do NOT bring household trash to dump at these sites.

Park rangers and volunteers will place the trees in the lake to create fishing structures as part of
the Allatoona Lake Fish Habitat Improvement Program. The program is a partnership between
federal, state, and local governments, as well as several local organizations and businesses.
