Corvette Driver Fleeing Repossessor Hits Woman, Pins Her To Truck

Cartersville police say the man removed the Corvette from the tow truck and struck a woman before fleeing the area.

CARTERSVILLE, GA — A Cartersville man has been charged in connection to an accident he allegedly caused when he fled a reposessor and pinned a woman to a truck during his escape.

These events began around 8:23 p.m. Dec. 14 when an employee of 2 Brothers Automotive arrived at Amerimart on Burnt Hickory Road to repossess a 1992 black Chevrolet Corvette. The employee made contact with the man who was leasing the Corvette, identified as Robert Louis Seaman, and informed him of the orders because of a missed payment.

According to a Cartersville Police Department incident report, Seaman and the employee went outside where the Corvette had been partially loaded on to the back of the tow truck. Seaman got inside the Corvette, turned on the engine and locked the doors, according to the incident report.

Seaman allegedly put the car into gear and removed the truck from the boom. This action caused the Corvette to hit and pin a woman against a Ford F-250 pickup truck, the report adds. Seaman left the scene, but was later track down at his home.

Officers arrived at Seaman's home, and the Cartersville resident said he "didn't want them taking his Corvette because that was all he had left." Officers also asked if Seaman was aware that he struck someone at the scene, but he noted he didn't hit anyone.

"I asked where his car was so I could take pictures of it to see if it matched up with his story," the officer wrote in the report. "Mr. Seaman then stated that 'that's none of your business; you are not a repo man'."

Seaman was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, failure to report an accident with injury/death, criminal damage to property in the first degree and criminal damage to property in the second degree. He remains at the Bartow County Jail with an $8,325 bond.
