Couple Accused in Alleged Battery of Drunken Boy, 13

The teen said his mother gave him alcohol, but he's not sure why her boyfriend allegedly bloodied his nose. The couple alleges the teen inappropriately touched his mom.

An area couple was jailed early Monday after a 13-year-old boy was found "extremely intoxicated" with a swollen and bloodied nose.

Cartersville police were called to a fight at an Etowah River boat ramp off Euharlee Road after midnight, according to the incident report. Angela Henson Boone, 42, of Dallas, and her boyfriend, Phillip Charles Elrod, 25, of Cartersville, told police Boone's son came into their tent and inappropriately touched his mother, which prompted Elrod to hit the boy in the face in her defense.

The teen "vehemently" denied the accusations, and told police he was so drunk just prior to their arrival that "he could barley stand on his own" and wasn't sure why Elrod had allegedly struck him in the face, according to the report.

The boy, who said he drank four or five Bud Light Black Crowns, said his mother had provided the alcohol. Police arrested Elrod on a charge of battery under the Family Violence Act, and say Boone was not happy about it.

"Ms. Boone stated that she did not want to press charges on her son...because she had the situation taken care of," an officer wrote in the report. "Ms. Boone was also extremely intoxicated and while speaking with myself (and other officers) became extremely disruptive and used very expressive language to explain what she thought about her boyfriend, Mr. Elrod, going to jail.

"Ms. Boone became very argumentative and kept using foul language and would not calm down, so she was taken into custody...but after she was placed into the rear of (an officer's) patrol car, she kicked out the back passenger glass before she could be transported."

Before she was arrested, Boone told an officer, "Sorry for...calling you," and another, "Take me to jail," according to the report. She was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, obstruction of an officer and interference with government property.

The teen was released to his grandparents.
