Crime Chronicle: People in Officers' Way

See who was arrested and the crimes reported in our blotter for Aug. 8. The following information was supplied by the Bartow County Sheriff's Office. It does not indicate a conviction.

The Bartow County Jail's intake report today lists 21 people who were arrested and booked into the jail. They are presumed innocent until the court system settles their cases.

A few highlights:

  • Five of the 21 face charges of obstruction of a law enforcement officer or interference with a 911 call. I don't think law officers like being blocked from their duties.
  • One man was stopped for a charge of not wearing a seat belt, then sheriff's officers said they found marijuana on him. You should always wear a seat belt in the car, but it's even more important if you have something to hide.
  • Is it a coincidence that a man booked for failure to appear in court fails to show up with a mug shot?
