  1. The implementation of a CSX quiet zone in downtown Cartersville is anticipated to take approximately 16 months, with a target completion date around Oct. 1, 2024, according to the city's consultants and the timeline provided by City Manager Dan Porta. The process involves receiving plan details for sidewalk work, approving the plans, reaching an agreement and cost estimate with CSX, ordering materials, and completing the necessary work. While completion times can vary, Acworth's nearby quiet zone project took three years to finish. (WBHF)
  2. Lessons at a horse therapy barn in Cartersville have been canceled following a fire that occurred on the property. Beyond Limits Therapeutic Riding Inc. made an announcement on their Facebook page, stating that the barn caught fire on Thursday night, and due to repairs, lessons will be closed for the foreseeable future, including the following week. The company expressed its love for the barn and its contents, acknowledging that while they can be replaced over time, the incident is devastating and heartbreaking. (11 Alive)
  3. Changes to the health care industry in northwest Georgia are continuing apace despite unexpected hurdles. Atrium Health Floyd and Harbin Clinic representatives have confirmed that negotiations are continuing, even though insiders had claimed that changes were already a done deal, and negotiations should have been completed by now. The first buzz around a merger between Atrium Health Floyd and the Harbin Clinic began a little under a year ago, and rumors were confirmed by both organizations this past December.
