Dentist, Mattress Store Set for E. Main St. in Cartersville

The former Georgia Heritage Bank branch in Cartersville has been grazed to make way for a dentist office and mattress store on E. Main St. in Cartersville.

The old Georgia Heritage Bank building on East Main Street is begin leveled to make way for a dentist's office and mattress store, city of Cartersville officials tell Patch.

Georgia Heritage continues to operate its main office in nearby Dallas and a west Cobb County branch, according to its website. Back in 2010, Georgia Heritage, which at that time operated the Cartersville branch at 215 E. Main St., was facing high foreclosures after the housing bubble went burst.

"...Since Paulding, Cobb and Bartow counties were all heavily involved in the housing industry, our customer base was certainly affected by the meltdown in that market," President and CEO Genevieve B. Cole told The Daily Tribune News in an email at the time.

Since, Georgia Heritage has closed it's only Bartow County branch and, since at least March, talks for the new stores set to take its place have been in the works.

Tipsters tell Cartersville Patch the old bank has been demolished. The site work was approved May 30 and will make way for a dentist office and mattress Firm, city of Cartersville Planning and Development officials tell Patch.

The facility, which apparently will house both stores, will be 7,700 square feet, according to the city's August development update.

It's unclear if the existing Matrress Firm at 644 E. Main St. would relocate.
