A preliminary report indicates the Chevrolet left the east side of the road and struck several trees, the Georgia State Patrol previously told Patch. The Chevrolet rotated, came back into the road and stuck the Mercedes.

The passenger inside the Chevrolet, 30-year-old Phillip D. Bagley of Cartersville, was pronounced dead at the scene. GSP's Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team conducted the investigation into the collision.

According to the reconstruction team, Jones was initially transported to Floyd Medical Center for treatment. However, he later left the premises.

"A trooper was at the hospital attempting to get blood from Mr. Jones, who refused the state administered blood test," the Georgia State Patrol said. "Mr. Jones was not in custody at the time he left the hospital."

The trooper left the hospital since Jones was set to be admitted for surgery. Jones, a Cartersville resident, was later apprehended by U.S. Marshals on Thursday, Jan. 24 and booked into the Bartow County Jail. He remains held without bond.
