Woofstock

The details about Woofstcok, via Cartersville UNCUT are:

The concept of “Woofstock” was born when an amalgamation of ideas fell victim to physical logistics and time constraints. It is the culmination of two ideas (“Run for Rescues” and “June Jam”) that merged into one spectacular event.

“Woofstock” promises to be the pre-eminent animal-affiliated event of the Summer sponsored by the Etowah Valley Humane Society. According to EVHS Fundraising Chair, Ansley Choate, “There will ...be numerous events that comprise the festival. There’s a 5k road race, a “Grateful Dog” pet parade, “Ruff-n-Roll” Idol contest sponsored by Luxury Tan, as well as inflatables, pony rides, food vendors, and live bands. In addition, Frisbee dog disc World Champion, Melissa Heeter, will put on a dog behavioral instruction clinic! We are really excited with the inaugural event and hope to broaden it, based on its success. It is our sincere desire to make “Woofstock” an annual affair.”

EVHS Director, Bryan Canty adds, “We want to make this event as inclusive as possible – something that the whole family can enjoy. The bottom line is this: We must increase our visibility in order to educate and create a social awareness to solve the plight of pet overpopulation in Bartow County. Spaying and neutering is imperative, but since the problem exists, it is incumbent upon us all to assist in any way. There are many great homeless pets that need forever homes. In fact, EVHS will have adoptable animals on site.”

So, if you’ve got a hankering to “run for rescues” or “croon for critters”, mosey on down to Sam Smith Park on June 11th, for the best darn “Dog Days” of Summer!
