EV Battery Plant To Open In Bartow County

Hyundai Motor Group and SK On are looking to open the manufacturing facility in 2025.

CARTERSVILLE, GA — A new electric vehicle battery plant is coming to Bartow County in 2025, bringing with it more than 3,500 jobs, Gov. Brian Kemp announced Thursday.

The governor said Hyundai Motor Group and SK On is looking to build its manufacturing facility at Bartow Centre on Highway 411. Kemp said about $4 to $5 billion will be invested into the county.

He called the plant one of the largest economic development projects in Georgia's history.

"Hyundai Motor Group and SK On are valued partners and key players in our state's ever-growing automotive industry," Kemp said in a news release. "Since day one, my administration has been focused on bringing jobs and opportunity to communities across the state that may have been overlooked in the past. SK and HMG share this goal, and we're proud they are choosing to invest even further in this No. 1 state for business."

In May, Hyundai Motor Group announced plans to invest $5.54 billion into Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America in Bryan County, according to Kemp's release. Ground was broken on the facility in October, Kemp said.
