Free Breakfast To All Bartow County Students Ends
The school board approved the discontinuation of the Provision 2 Breakfast Program that provided free breakfast to all students.
BARTOW COUNTY, GA -- An improving economy results in changes in the Bartow County Schools Nutrition Services Department. The school board approved the discontinuation of the Provision 2 Breakfast Program that provided free breakfast to all students. Beginning in August, breakfast prices will be $1.50 at all schools. The reduced rate will be $.30 and for eligible students, breakfast will be free.
Provision 2 was initiated due to the large number of students qualifying for assistance throughout the county. That percentage has decreased in recent years, thus affecting breakfast prices. Lunch prices will remain the same.
Oreal Oladele, director of School Nutrition Services, reminds families, “They must reapply for the free/reduced status each year. Applications will be sent home with students the first day of school, but parents and guardians can go to www.bartowcountyschoolnutritio... to apply for faster processing.”

Oladele also pointed out that by visiting www.MyPaymentsPlus.com, student accounts can be managed online. The system eliminates the need to send checks to school or worry about lost or forgotten lunch money and ensures that students will receive a nutritious meal. At no cost, MyPaymentsPlus allows any family to create a free, secured account to manage all students’ meal purchases; check student’s current account balance; monitor the items students purchase in the cafeteria; and, create settings to receive email notification when the account reaches a low balance.
