A group of area residents converged on a Cartersville parking lot shortly before midnight Friday to watch drift racing, according to a witness. One driver was arrested as a result.

"As I pulled into the parking lot, I observed a white male driving a black-colored, two-door vehicle, causing the vehicle to spin around numerous times in the small parking lot around a light pole, almost striking the light pole, and leaving skid markings on the pavement," the officer reported, noting bystanders were close by.
One of the witnesses told police that he came to watch the drivers "drift," after friends told him a group of people were meeting in the lot for drift racing, the report says.
