🌱 Juneteenth Festival At Summer Hill + Daylilies On Parade

Here are the top five stories in Cartersville today:

  1. A friendly reminder that Cartersville's Juneteenth Festival is taking place all day today (Saturday, Jun. 18) at the Summer Hill Complex! The Red Cross Sickle Cell Blood Drive will be running from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m and is accepting donors. From 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., event attendees can enjoy food trucks and vendors with family-friendly entertainment. Finally, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., local R&B band Kaviar will give a special performance for the celebration. (Cartersville-Bartow Chamber of Commerce)
  2. If you're looking to add a little spring to your step this weekend, don't miss the "Daylilies on Parade" show at the Cartersville Civic Center, taking place today from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.View educational displays from the American Daylily Society, vote on your favorite flower design entries, or buy some plants to take home.   3. A Cartersville man with a 2019 burglary charge was recently transferred from Autry State Prison to the Floyd County Jail. According to reports from the Floyd County Jail, 30-year-old Nicholas Adam Brown has been charged with second-degree felony burglary as well as misdemeanor theft by receiving stolen property. Brown was accused of breaking into a home and stealing a firearm alongside other property in March of 2019. (Northwest Georgia News)
  4. Have you made your reservations to attend the Cartersville-Bartow Chamber's Annual Cookout on Thursday, Jun. 23? If you haven't, you have until Monday, Jun. 20 at 5:00 p.m. to do so! The cookout will feature Craft Smokehouse, Southern Comforts Catering, and Mister Softee of Metro ATL, as well as live music from Mainstream Band GA.   5. The Highland Rivers Behavioral Health Governing Board of Directors will hold a meeting this coming Wednesday, Jun. 22. The event is open to the public and will be held at the Cartersville Chamber of Commerce, located at 122 W. Main Street, starting at 10:30 a.m. Highland Rivers operates over two dozen treatment facilities across Northwest Georgia, including Bartow County. (Cobb County Courier)
