Latest Coronavirus Update For Cartersville, Bartow County
Here are the latest updates on how the coronavirus outbreak is affecting Cartersville and Bartow County.
BARTOW COUNTY, GA — The new coronavirus outbreak in Georgia and across the nation continues to affect Bartow County, where schools are closed for the rest of the academic year and businesses remain shuttered in an effort to slow the spread of the virus.
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases and deaths in Georgia continues to rise: 17,432 total on Friday evening, 3,395 hospitalized and 668 dead. At 6:30 p.m. Friday, the Georgia Department of Public Health reports Fulton County's 2,037 cases are the most of any Georgia locality, with 74 deaths recorded. The highest number of deaths is in Dougherty County, with 91; its total number of cases rank second at 1,385. The next highest numbers of cases are in DeKalb with 1,366 cases, Cobb with 1,085 cases, Gwinnett with 1,037 cases, Hall with 605 cases and Clayton with 499 cases

BARTOW COUNTY CORONAVIRUS CASES, DEATHS
Bartow County has tallied 245 coronavirus cases as of Friday evening, with the number of deaths up to 22. The deceased are all 56 or older, and all had underlying health issues.

Test kits are still in short supply in Georgia, so call your health provider first before visiting the office. MORE
All schools remain closed for in-person instruction for the remainder of the academic year. A joint prom for all Bartow high schools is planned for June 18, "pending no state or local laws barring it," according to the district's website.
