Latest Coronavirus Update For Cartersville, Bartow County

Here are the latest updates on how the coronavirus outbreak is affecting Cartersville and Bartow County.

BARTOW COUNTY, GA — As businesses across Georgia slowly reopen, the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths continue to rise as well, although more slowly than before.

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases and deaths in Georgia continues to rise: 28,661 total on Sunday evening, 5,407 hospitalized and 1,181 dead.

At 10:30 p.m. Sunday, the Georgia Department of Public Health reports Fulton County's 2,979 cases are the most of any Georgia locality. Fulton County now is also tied with Dougherty County for the most deaths, with 124 deaths each.

BARTOW COUNTY CORONAVIRUS CASES, DEATHS

Bartow County has tallied 325 coronavirus cases as of Sunday evening, with 31 deaths. The deceased are all 56 or older, and all had underlying health issues.

SCHOOLS

All schools remain closed for in-person instruction for the remainder of the academic year. However, a joint prom for all Bartow high schools is planned for June 18, "pending no state or local laws barring it," according to the district's website.

GOVERNMENT

The Bartow County Tax Commissioner's Office will reopen Monday at 8 a.m. While the office will be fully staffed with all necessary precautions taken, customers are urged to continue using online services, mail, or the dropbox outside the office where possible.
