Liquor Store Clerk Allegedly Pulls Knife on Customer

The Cartersville woman told police she "just snapped" when a customer who didn't have ID was in the store.

A liquor store clerk told police she "just snapped" when she allegedly pulled a knife on a customer who was in the store without ID.

Gia Lee Bagwell, 30, of Mission Ridge Drive in Cartersville, was working at the Cartersville store Friday shortly before 7 p.m. The alleged victim, a 29-year-old woman, who told Bagwell her ID was in the car, said the clerk ordered she leave the store.

The customer said she tried to get out of the store, but one of the doors was locked so she tried to walk around the counter to the exit door, when Bagwell allegedly said "to her in a very loud voice to the point of screaming and drawing attention from other patrons in the business to get out of the store," according to the incident report.

The customer said she and Bagwell exchanged words about never shopping in the store again.

"Bagwell then suddenly came after her as she was trying to leave the store and produced a knife and got within approximately 6 inches from her throat stating, 'I will cut you [expletive],'" the alleged victim told police, according to the report.

Police talked to at least four witnesses and found a silver and black Smith and Wesson knife in Bagwell's pocket.
