Man Drowns Sunday In Flamingo Cove Area At Lake Allatoona

It took more than two hours to find the 34-year-old man, who witnesses saw go under late Sunday afternoon at Lake Allatoona.

BARTOW COUNTY, GA — A 34-year-old Armuchee man drowned Sunday while swimming in the Flamingo Cove area at Lake Allatoona.

After more than two hours looking, rescue divers found the body of David Kevin Gurley just before 5:30 p.m., according to WGCL-TV in Atlanta.

Bartow County Fire Chief Dwayne Jamison told WBHF Community Radio that witnesses saw the man go under and not resurface.
