Man Hit By Train In Cartersville

The victim was found lying on the tracks Friday afternoon near Fairview Drive.

CARTERSVILLE, GA — A man has been hospitalized after he was hit by a train Friday afternoon in Bartow County. The man was struck by the train at the end of Fairview Drive, which is off Cassville Road in Cartersville.

A deputy with the Bartow County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to the call of the accident around 3:04 p.m. Dec. 21 and met with EMS crews, who were transporting the male patient to Floyd Medical Center.

While he did not get a chance to speak with the victim, the deputy was told he was unconscious, but breathing. According to the incident report, the victim was found bleeding from his eyes and head when they removed him from the tracks.

According to bystanders, the man was seen "walking up and down the tracks and appeared intoxicated by his speech and mannerisms before a train came though." They found the victim lying parallel to and in between the rails when they were walking back from an area store.
