A couple of Cartersville police reports caught our eye, but chronicle alleged crimes and the people involved are assumed innocent until their cases are settled in the courts.

A couple of police reports chronicling alleged criminal incidents in Cartersville and Bartow County in the last day or so caught our eyes at Cartersville Patch. Here are the stories:
Cop: Intoxicated Man Says Parking Lot 'Found Him'
An allegedly intoxicated man found lying in a parking lot Sunday appeared deceased to the Waffle House worker who called police.
Bartow County sheriff's deputies responded about 3 p.m. to the Highway 20 eatery to a report of a man in the back parking lot, who didn't appear to be breathing, according to the incident report, attached.

The man, who identified himself as Jeffrey Sumner, smelled of alcohol and apparently had been drinking a 24-ounce can of Steel Reserve in a brown paper bag in his right hand, a deputy reported.
Describing himself as "not too drunk," Sumner said he had been hitchhiking and was tired, according to the deputy. When asked why he was lying in the parking lot, Sumner said "that the parking lot had found him."

He registered .222 on a breath test and was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. But the arrest wouldn't be the last of Sumner's dealings with local cops.
Man Allegedly Forges Name on Jail Document
Authorities say Sumner wasn't too intoxicated to lie about his name. About four and a half hours after his arrest on a disorderly conduct charge, jailers discovered Sumner's true identity.
They say a photograph of Jeffery Wardell was identical to that of Sumner, who also had allegedly signed a property receipt using the alias, according to the Bartow County Sheriff's Office incident report, attached.
"I went to Holding Cell 5, where Jeffery had been temporarily housed, and stated 'Mr. Wardell,'" a deputy reported. "Jeffery looked up and said, '...No, Sumner....' I informed him that his true identity had been discovered."
Wardell, 45, who is homeless, also was charged with first-degree forgery and giving a false name to police.
Intoxicated Teen Wrapped in Fence Requires Emergency Medical Treatment
An 18-year-old Taylorsville woman was so intoxicated Sunday night that she required emergency medical treatment, according to the Bartow County Sheriff's Office incident report, attached.
An 80-year-old Cartersville woman called 911 about 10:15 p.m. to report a group drinking and partying on private Highway 61 property without the owner's consent. She said they had become so intoxicated, they couldn't care for themselves.
When cops arrived, they found the teen outside, "laying on her side, twisted up in a fence, clearly intoxicated," a deputy reported. He called for an ambulance, as the woman was "too intoxicated to speak or move."
An intoxicated man "appeared to be trying to render aid to (the teen) but was having difficulty," according to the deputy, who arrested another man accused of using profanity and being uncooperative with police.
Cody Randall Lee, 21, of Cole Drive in Cartersville, also allegedly admitted to giving the teen a "significant portion" of a bottle of whiskey he had, although he knew she wasn't old enough to legally drink alcohol.
Lee was arrested and charged with furnishing alcoholic beverages to a minor.
The teen was transported to Cartersville Medical Center in an ambulance for medical treatment.
