Men Take $230 from Bill Changing Machine in Cartersville

Witnesses said one of the men used a newspaper to cover his face, and pulled it down and looked around before placing it back in front of his face, in apparent effort to conceal his identity.

A man used a newspaper to cover his face, pulling it down, looking around and putting it back in front of face, while another broke into a bill changing machine Saturday in Cartersville.

A clerk about 7:15 p.m. notified police of the suspicious activity at the TA on Cass-White Road and said the two left in a car, after one of the men bent the license plate up, in an apparent effort to remove it, according to the Bartow County Sheriff's Office incident report, above.

A customer asked the location of the change machine and as the clerk showed him, she noticed the younger man standing in front of the machine with a newspaper covering his face.

"He would pull it down, look around and put it back up over his face," the deputy wrote in the report. "She then observed an older male behind him opening the hood of the bill changing machine.

"She confronted them and the older male put down the hood and they both walked to the rear of the fuel desk. She asked them what they were doing by the machine and they ran out the back door. She ran after them and noticed the one male pulling up on the license plate of the car, like he was trying to rip it off. Both males got into the white Nissan car and sped off."

The clerk said she noticed the older man had some type of bag folded under his arm.
