No Mask? No Problem For Bartow County Schools This Fall

CARTERSVILLE, GA — No mask? No problem.

Face coverings will continue to be optional this fall in Bartow County Schools, according to Superintendent Phillip Page as reported by WBHF Community Radio.

“At this point in time, in working through our teacher and parent advisory committees, that recommendation has not been made,” Page told the Cartersville radio station.

Page’s comment confirms a continuation of last school year’s policy, when masks weren’t mandated either.

According to the Georgia Department of Public Health, as of Thursday Bartow ranked 17th among 159 Georgia counties for case rate per 100,000 residents, with about 10,400 diagnosed cases of COVID-19, placing it in the top 11 percent. Bartow’s 14-day case rate — a measure of how many new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 have been diagnosed over the last two weeks — is 32nd highest, in the top 20 percent.

Currently, no COVID-19 vaccination is authorized for those younger than 12.
