The pedestrian was walking on U.S. 41 near Postelle Street when the fatal collision occurred, the Georgia State Patrol said.

CARTERSVILLE, GA — The Georgia State Patrol is investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian reported last week in Bartow County. A trooper was dispatched to the collision on Joe Frank Harris Parkway just south of Postelle Street around 2:33 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13.

According to the GSP's accident report, the driver of a black 2017 Kia Sorento was traveling southbound on Joe Frank Harris Parkway in the right lane and was negotiating a left curve when he struck a pedestrian walking northbound.

The driver of the vehicle told the trooper he did not see the pedestrian, who appeared to have been walking north in the southbound lane "near the solid line separating the right lane and the right merge lane," until it was too late to avoid the victim, the report indicates.
