🌱 Plant Bowen Highest Carbon Emissions In GA + CPD Hiring Event

Here are the top five stories today in Cartersville:

1. Georgia Power's Plant Bowen, located near Cartersville, ranked the highest in the state for carbon emissions. It also ranked 23rd highest in the country, according to data from the Atlanta-based Enrivonmental Georgia Research & Policy Center. Two of Plant Bowen's four coal-burning units were scheduled for retirement by 2028 under a January 2021 proposal. However, an agreement reached last week would leave the decision of retirement up to the Georgia Public Service Commission. (Northwest Georgia News)
2. Tomorrow (Wednesday, Jun. 22), the Cartersville Police Department will be holding a police officer hiring event. Interested parties can head to the Public Safety Building between 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for on-the-spot patrol officer interviews.
