PT Solutions Holds Olympic Triathlon
The race that started in Cartersville and ended in Acworth included a 1.5K swim in Lake Allatoona; a 42K bike ride across steep, rolling hills; and 10K run.
PT Solutions, a privately-owned physical therapist practice with locations in Illinois, Alabama, Georgia, Florida and Kentucky, held Aug. 25 the 2013 Red Top Mountain Olympic Triathlon at Gatewood Park in Cartersville.
The race began at 7 am and involved a 1.5K swim in Lake Allatoona. Participants transitioned from the swim portion and hopped on their bikes for a 42K ride across steep, rolling hills. Finally, the participants finished with a challenging 10K run. Along with cheering spectators, athletes were greeted at the finish line by delicious offerings from Henry’s Louisiana Grill in Acworth.
Although the course was tough, the overall male winner, Russell Smith, finished in a blistering time of 2:23:55. Not to be outdone, the overall female winner, Crystal Perkins, crossed the finish line with a time of 2:43:08.
