The driver of a Kia Forte that a witness described as "weaving in and out of traffic" Sunday on I-75 lost control and struck a tree.

CARTERSVILLE, GA — What one witness described as a race down Interstate 75 in Bartow County Sunday afternoon resulted in a driver’s death when his car hit a tree.

A Kia Forte driven by Charles Bryan Hair, 29, of Newport, Tennessee, left I-75 near mile marker 305 at about 5:30 p.m. Sunday, according to the Georgia State Patrol. The Kia then “traveled approximately 465 feet” before it struck a tree head-on.

A witness told GSP investigators that he saw the Kia and a dark-colored sedan apparently “racing” south on I-75. According to the witness, the Kia was weaving in and out of traffic to pass other vehicles when it veered off the road and its driver lost control.
