What's going on in the area this week? Here some of the events coming up.
2013 Relay Ride for Life-Motorcycle Ride. This annual event, which benefits cancer patients and draws bikers from Cartersville and beyond, takes a route from The Hope Center in Cartersville to Pine Log United Methodist Church in Rydal. Registration is at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, with kickstands up at 10. Event features live entertainment and lunch, free health screenings and door prizes.
Registration is $25 per bike (includes t-shirt & lunch) while passengers are free and may purchase a t-shirt and lunch for $15. To register, call MedLine today at 800.242.5662. Credit cards accepted when registering through MedLine. Cash and checks only for event day registration.

Etowah River Clean-Up. The Cartersville Parks and Recreation Department is partnering with the Coosa River Basin Initiative and Keep Bartow Beautiful to help clean the rivers on Saturday, Sept. 28. Make sure to bring gloves and clothes you can get dirty in.
National Hunting and Fishing Day. All ages are welcome to fish at Dellinger Park from 7 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 28.
Bartow Empty Bowls 2013. The third annual Empty Bowls at the Cartersville Civic Center on Sunday, Sept. 29, is a grass-roots effort to fight hunger in the community. Attendees donate $20 to the Back Pack Buddies Program in the city/county schools. Guests may choose one of 500 bowls at the event hand-crafted by local potters, students and art teachers. Lunch, which is served noon to 3 p.m., is provided by local eateries and included with the ticket.
