Driver Arrested For Pot At Work: Cartersville Crime

A driver was arrested for pot while at work and another marijuana arrest was also made in Cartersville crime recently.

CARTERSVILLE, GA -- The Cartersville Police Department provided the following information about recent incidents in the city. Arrests do not equal convictions.

According to police reports:

  • A 30-year-old man was arrested May 15 and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana by ingestion. A handgun was entered into evidence for safe keeping. Officers made contact with the driver of an auto glass truck outside the business at 40 South Morningside Drive. They had received a report of a wrong way driver from a citizen. The driver and the vehicle had the odor of fresh or non burnt marijuana. Inside the vehicle, on the seat in a black plastic bag, the officer found two plastic bags of a green leafy substance which was suspected marijuana. The marijuana later weighed in at just over 15 grams. Also in the cab, was a loaded 45 caliber Springfiled Armory handgun. There was not a round in the chamber.
  • An 18-year-old woman was arrested May 16, at approximately 0217 hours, in the area of Henderson Drive and Old Mill Road when an officer observed a red 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser when an inoperable third brake light. The officer could smell an odor of marijuana coming from within the vehicle. A passenger of the vehicle said the marijuana solely belonged to her. The suspected marijuana was photographed and weighed, totaling approximately 2.8 grams. The woman was issued a citation for possession of marijuana less than 1 ounce and released on her own recognizance.
  • A 26-year-old man was arrested May 16 for felony probation violation.
  • A 45-year-old man was arrested for having two active arrest warrants for burglary and theft.
