Teens Charged in Industrial Park Burglary

Cartersville police for several weeks had Industrial Park Road facilities under surveillance following multiple burglaries at different businesses.

Two teens police say they spotted behind a Cartersville business with wet, sandy clothing after a report of burglarly in progress have been arrested and charged with three alleged crimes.

Chief Thomas "Tommy" Culpepper said Dillon Taylor Rice, 18, and Kyle Ashley Allen, 18, both of Cartersville, were arrested last night after 11 and each charged with burglary, prowling and criminal trespass.

Officers say they saw the duo in a car, pulling out from behind adjacent buildings following a burglary report at scrap metals recycler on Industrial Park Road, according to the incident report.

"We have had this area under surveillance for several weeks due to multiple burglaries having taken place at different businesses on Industrial Park Road," Culpepper said in a statement. "I commend our officers for their diligence and quick response which allowed us to make these arrests."

A security guard had spotted a man on a live video feed of the warehouse, which prompted police to respond.

Officers say Allen and Rice could not "fully explain" why they were in the industrial area or behind Direct TV, where parked cars and stolen property had been stashed in previous incidents. Police noticed Allen was wearing moist, sandy clothing, and found wet, dirty apparel in Rice's car, according to the report.
