Trio Charged With Murdering Half Sisters, Dumping Bodies In Rome

ROME, GA — Three men already in the Floyd County Jail were charged Thursday with the murders of two half sisters whose bodies were discovered in May off the East Rome Bypass.

The bodies of Vanita Nicole Richardson and Truvenia Clarece Campbell were dumped over the side of the bridge on May 13, according to a Georgia Bureau of Investigation affidavit.

Then, according to the affidavit, three men — Desmond Lavonta Brown, 28; Devin Lashawn Watts, 36; and Christopher Leedarius Pullen, 23 — drove Richardson’s Toyota to Atlanta, where they set it on fire.

The three were already being held in the Floyd County Jail on other charges when they were charged Thursday with the murders, according to The Rome News-Tribune.

Brown was arrested on May 18 for misdemeanor obstruction, Watts was arrested on May 19 on gun charges and Pullen was arrested Thursday on drug charges.

GBI investigators believe Richardson and Campbell were shot some time between May 12 and May 13, then dumped over the side of the Etowah Bridge with bags covering their heads.
