BARTOW COUNTY, GA — A science teacher at Woodland High School was shocked when she was awarded the High School Teacher of the Year, as seen in a video posted to the Bartow County Schools Facebook page.

Dana Hunt, a science teacher, is seen walking into the classroom full of district leaders, former students of hers and Superintendent Phillip Page, all awaiting her like at a surprise birthday party. One of them even said "happy birthday."

One Bartow County schools teacher and parent said Hunt always went the extra mile. "She is a favorite teacher among Woodland High School students and her willingness to meet the needs of all her students was unwavering," Sha Ristroph said.
