Although she begged him to let her go, he drove away, down Rudy York to Walker Road, where the woman called her sister "in an attempt to get her to call 911 because [the woman] was being kidnapped," the report says.
"She had a drink with her and the male had his hands over the drink and she began feeling sick, and he asked her if she felt alright and she asked, why did he do something to her drink," according to the report.
The man turned the car around and tooker back to the entrance of a Rudy York Road mobile home park near Mac Johnson. As they pulled in, the woman began yelling for help toward a neighbor, who was walking toward the vehicle.
The woman got out of the man's car and he backed out and left toward Mac Johnson.
"When the male initially stopped to talk with her she believed he stated her name, but she could not remember and thought he said he was from out of town," the report says. "After she had got out of the vehicle, she remembered a struggle over her phone and could not find the phone, and she believes the male took it with him."
Battery Suspect Was Mad Because He Allegedly Wanted to Buy Butane to Huff
A man accused of battery allegedly had been drinking and huffing butane all day. A member of his family called 911 about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.
She said Joshua Wilbur Powell, 25, "was mad that they wouldn't give him money to buy more butane," according to the Cartersville Police Department incident report, attached.
When police arrived at the James Street home in Cartersville, Powell allegedly told them the woman had hit him in the arm with a baseball bat after the two argued. He added that he wanted to use another family member's debit card to go to Walmart, according to the report.
"(The alleged victim said she) called 911 because she was afraid of Mr. Powell, but he made her tell the dispatcher that it was a mistake and she was OK," officers wrote in the report. "When she attempted to call 911 a second time, Mr. Powell took the phone out of her hands and ripped the battery off.
"At that point, Mr. Powell began to strike Ms. Powell in the face with a closed fist several times and then with the telephone several times. Ms. Powell added
that he also struck her with the wand that controls a set of blinds."
Police say they found that bent wand on the floor along with the telephone in several pieces. The woman had "visible swelling all over her face and bruising was starting to occur on her cheeks," according to the report.
Powell was arrested and charged with battery under the Family Violence Act and interfering with a 911 call.
