Woodland Wind Symphony Selected Play for Hundreds of Honor Bands

Congratulations to the Wind Symphony at Woodland High School. By invitation only, they have been chosen to play for hundreds of honor bands at The University of Alabama on Feb. 8, 2014. 

“The members of the Wind Symphony at Woodland are very excited about the opportunity to represent our school and the system,” Director of Bands Eric Willoughby said. 

The Woodland Wind Symphony, an audition only group, is the most advanced concert band out of the four concert bands. It has 52 of the most advanced woodwind, brass and percussionist musicians in the school. There are over 200 musicians in the Woodland High music program. 

Throughout the year, the Woodland band programs will perform at prestigious events including the Cartersville Christmas Parade and their usual concerts. The Marching Band will participate in three regional competitions in October. The Jazz Band will perform several concerts including the highlight event, “An Enchanted Evening,” a dinner/dance night full of entertainment. 

“The administration and staff of Woodland High School are fortunate to be represented by the Marching 'Wildcat' Band under the leadership of Band Director’s Eric Willoughby and Wesley Brooks. Our crew has indeed set the standard for other marching bands to follow. Being a member of the Marching “Wildcat” Band is an investment of time, sweat and skill, which is evident as soon as you see them perform their show,” Associate Principal Wes Dickey said. “My greatest goal is always to inspire my students to grow as musicians and people in the larger school community. 

"I want them to learn to be persons of high moral character and reach their full potential every day, in every way. Ever onward and upward!”
