$1 Million later and 5 Months Ahead of Schedule, the Fairburn Rd. Bridge Reopens
The Fairburn Rd. bridge was closed in January for renovations.

The all wooden, Fairburn Road bridge that crosses the CSX train tracks near N. Camp Creek Parkway has reopened after its million dollar renovation.
The original bridge was all-timber and built in the 1930's, but over time the southwest Atlanta bridge needed repairs to its structure.Β The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) put together a plan and funded $1 million dollars to replace wood planks, handrail posts, and perform other structural fixes.Β The result is what looks like a brand new concrete bridge, with safe guard rails, sidewalks, and a seemingly sturdy structure.
According to Atlanta Public Works, the bridge had been slated for repair and was a priority within the city's Infrastructure Replacement Plan.
