Black Girls RUN! Atlanta to Hold Run in Memory of Boston Marathon Blast Victims
The national group Black Girls RUN! is also encouraging runners to run either 26.2 miles, 2.62 miles or 26.2 minutes this week to honor the victims.

Following the bomb explosions during The Boston Marathon on Monday that left three people dead and dozens injured, many in the Atlanta running community felt moved to do something– run!
Black Girls RUN! Atlanta is doing just that. The group will be holding a special run, "We RUN! For BOSTON," to remember the victims at 6:30 p.m. at Atlantic Station in Midtown.

The event will likely have more runners attend as many are looking for ways to show support during a tragic time.
Many gathered and ran on Monday because of the tragedy and posted on the Black Girls RUN! Atlanta Facebook page:
G Michelle Drummond wrote: "I fought the urge to plant myself in front of the tv and got out and ran 3+ miles. This was for those that trained hard but couldn't finish or that may never run again."
Ajnos Snilloc wrote: "30 for BOSTON!!! In honor of today's tragic events 30 DOUGLASVILLE DIAMONDS and 3 Newbies showed up and showed out by tackling the rolling hills of Douglas County and by running their longest group distance to date!! Great job Diamonds!!!"
Several new runners came out on Monday to join the various Black Girls RUN! groups throughout Metro Atlanta to unite and run for those who couldn't finish their race.
The runners will meet in the Atlantic Station Courtyard between Strip & Rosa Mexicana near stair #6.
Additionally, Black Girls RUN! members will be running either 26.2 miles, 2.62 miles or 26.2 minutes from April 16 through April 19 in "in support of those who lost their lives, trained, and sacrificed for one of the most esteemed races in the world."
