An APD officer-involved shooting occurred Monday night along University Avenue, outside of an Exxon gas station.
According to Officer Kim Jones, "around 8:30pm officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that they had observed driving erratically along University." Jones goes on to say that, "the preliminary investigation indicates that during the officers investigation the driver of the vehicle attempted to leave the scene. It appears that the officer received non-life threatening injuries and fired several shots."
Other media outlets are saying that the suspect ran over the officers foot while trying to flee the scene.
"At this time the driver has been apprehended and the passenger was located at Atlanta Medical Center South in stable condition with a gunshot wound to the shoulder," says Officer Jones.
The investigation is still ongoing, and investigators are working to gather the facts surrounding the shooting to determine what occurred.
