Platez Southern Kitchen & Cocktailz Grand Opening August 19

Platez Southern Kitchen and Cocktailz restaurant officially opens at 130 Clairemont Ave., Decatur Ga with a weekend of activities August 19-21. A ribbon cutting ceremony at 1 p.m. on Friday, August 19 is open to media, invited guests, friends and family. Guests will celebrate with music provided by 107.9 FM Saturday, August 20 and PRAISE 102.9 FM on Sunday, August 21.

Proprietor Etanya Lucas will welcome special guests for the grand opening with a tasting of the menu. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Ms. Lucas is a busy and savvy, accomplished entrepreneur who has resided in the Atlanta area for nearly thirty years.

Etanya is founder and owner of Platez restaurant which was birthed out of her vision and desire to bring authentic southern delicacies to a community that she cherishes.Her passion for this vision derived from the humble beginnings of watching her grandmother’s operation of Neta Dupree’s Soul Food Café in her North Carolina home town. Her decision to name her restaurant Platez came as a result of constantly hearing her grandmother ask the patrons, “What plate of goodness are you having today?” Etanya places the health and happiness of her customers at the heart of every decision and recipe she envisions.

On the breakfast menu at Platez: Shrimp and Creamy Gritz, Salmon Croquettes, Thick French Toast, Yogurt Parfait, build your own Omelet and more.

Lunch offerings include Shrimp Po Boy hand-battered shrimp with spicy remoulade, fried chicken, catfish filet, beef and turkey burgers and more.

For dinner you'll find Seafood Boil with lobster, shrimp, crab and corn, Low Country Shrimp and Gritz, fried chicken, BBQ ribs, smoked chicken, caesar, cobb and green apple salads,.crab cakes, rib eye steak and more.Kidz plates are offered with chicken fingers and burgers and more.

There is a truncated late night menu and a dessert menu of sweet potato pie and assorted cakes.
