
Atlanta City Councilmember Joyce Sheperd and the McPherson Implementing Local Redevelopment Authority (MILRA) Board is inviting interested residents and stakeholders to an OPEN HOUSE at Fort McPherson.
The Open House, hosted by the McPherson Community Engagement Subcommittee, will take place from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Fort McPherson, 1794 Walker Avenue, SW, Atlanta, Georgia 30310.
The city of Atlanta has a goal of redeveloping the 486 acre former Army site to create jobs and promote economic development. Plans include the creation of a Science Park/Employment Center/Live, Work, Learn and Play Community containing 3.5 million square feet of labs and office, 1,747 units of residential development and a campus style collaborative environment to house Georgia’s core competencies in vaccines, infectious diseases, neurosciences and other targeted sciences.

Hourly presentations and tours will be given by the McPherson Implementing Local Redevelopment Authority Board on how the timelines and negations will move forward with the Department of Defense conveyance of the property to the city of Atlanta and MILRA.
During the open house, information will be provided about the redevelopment of Fort McPherson from the city of Atlanta, the city of East Point, Invest Atlanta, the Veterans Administration, several credit unions and neighborhoods surrounding McPherson site.
