Six Former Surgeons Generals Host Healthcare Forum at Morehouse School of Medicine

The 16th Surgeon General and director of Morehouse School of Medicine's Satcher Health Leadership Institute, David Satcher, will host a day long forum entitled, Taking Action for Comprehensive Primary Health Care Renewal

This is the week that Affordable Healthcare will be on everyone's mind as the probability of a government shutdown at the hands of Republican lawmakers rises.  Much of the fuss and reason for the shutdown has been blamed on Republicans and their mission to refuse to allow Obamacare to be implemented. We in Atlanta are fortunate to have 6 former US Surgeons Generals coming to Morehouse College to hold a forum on primary healthcare renewal, later this week in which they will share their thoughts on the issues and problems we are facing today.

To mark next year’s 50th anniversary of the first Surgeon General’s report on Smoking and Heath, the 16th Surgeon General and director of Morehouse School of Medicine’s (MSM) Satcher Health Leadership Institute David Satcher, M.D., Ph.D. will host a day long forum entitled, “Underserved and High Risk Populations in the United States: Taking Action for Comprehensive Primary Health Care Renewal on Thursday, October 3, 2013 at MSM.

Sponsored by The Aetna Foundation, this forum will include a panel discussion with former U.S. Surgeon Generals entitled, “Celebrating 50 Years of Surgeon General Reports: Preparing Leadership for Health Equity,” and a keynote speech by Leonard Jack, Jr. Ph.D., M.Sc., director of the Division of Community Health at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
