- Police Chief Freddie Blackmon has accepted the $400,000 severance package, and now, an interim chief will be appointed at the Columbus Police Department. After, there may be a nationwide search for an outsider to take the job, instead of someone who already works in the department. For now, Blackmon's assistant chiefs, Debra Kennedy and Joyce Dent-Fitzpatrick, will run the department until an interim chief is appointed. (Ledger-Enquirer)
