Castleberry Road Closed Monday For Pedestrian Bridge Installation

The City said a section of Castleberry Road will be closed from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 9 to install the pedestrian bridge over it.

CUMMING, GA — A portion of Castleberry Road within the Cumming City Limits will be closed from approximately 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 9.

The road closure is necessary due to contractors installing the Cumming Fairgrounds’ new pedestrian sky bridge over Castleberry Road during these hours. Due to the difficulty of the project and concern for workers’ and traffic safety, this project requires full light and thus cannot be completed during overnight hours.

Be aware that Castleberry Road will be closed from Anglin Drive to Bank Avenue. If possible, avoid this section Castleberry Road on Monday, Sept. 9 between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. all together to help eliminate traffic delays.

If this is not possible, be advised that traffic will be detoured as follows:

  • Northbound Traffic: Detour by turning left onto Tolbert Street or Anglin Drive (which connects to Tolbert Street), and then following Tolbert Street to West Maple Street.
  • Southbound Traffic: Detour by turning left onto Bank Avenue to Veterans Memorial Blvd. Turn right onto Veterans Memorial Blvd. and stay on Veterans Memorial Blvd. until the
intersection with Hwy. 9. Turn right onto Hwy. 9 and then right again onto Hutchinson Road.

The City of Cumming said it thanks everyone in advance for their patience as they complete this project. Once in place, the pedestrian sky bridge will create much safer access to Cumming Fairgrounds' events and will greatly reduce traffic delays on Castleberry Road resulting from Fairgrounds’ events.
