Cumming Boy Drowns In GA Lake

HIAWASSEE, GA — A 5-year-old boy from Cumming drowned to death Tuesday afternoon in a Stonecrest Circle lake, the Towns County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.

Deputies responded around 12:30 p.m. after receiving a call that the boy was missing, authorities said. The boy disappeared for about 10 minutes, having wandered into the lake, authorities said.

By the time the deputies arrived, authorities said a family member had just pulled the boy from the lake.

First responders immediately administered CPR, and the boy was taken to Chatuge Regional Hospital, where he later died, authorities said.

The family was in town visiting from Cumming, authorities said. The boy was not identified.
