CUMMING, GA — A Cumming man is dead after his car left the roadway and hit a medium-sized tree, the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said Monday.

The fatal crash happened around 1 a.m. Sunday in the area of Heardsville and Frix roads, authorities said.

Ashton Dickerson was driving a 2022 Tesla Model 3 that failed to negotiate a curve near Heardsville, causing the Tesla to leave the road and hit a tree, authorities said.

A GoFundMe established for Dickerson raised more than $2,000 of its $10,000 goal.

"Beyond his kind spirit, Ashton was a talented and aspiring artist, pouring his creativity into writing and producing a diverse range of songs under the moniker 'Love Ozihe.' This artistic name held a special meaning for him, inspired by his love for the animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender.' Just as the protagonist in the show learned that love and forgiveness could overcome darkness, Ashton embraced these principles in his own life, a reflection of his faith and upbringing," read the GoFundMe.

The money gathered through the fundraiser will go toward funeral costs and unexpected expenses, organizers said.
