House noted that when Maloney returns back to work he will be a supervisor at the jail with a desk job. House was unsure when and if Maloney would ever return to duties as a road deputy.
As for Maloney's rank, House said the sheriff's office works under the civil service policy of the Forsyth County Government where a progressive discipline is in place that the sheriff's office is required to work through.
"This may not have come to the level of termination," House said. "He did not do anything criminal, he violated internal policies."
Capt. House did say the woman involved in the alleged affair was 18 when it started on April 1, but had turned 19 by the time it ended on Dec. 1.
