CUMMING, GA — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we’re working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.

Relationship to nominee: As President of the Good Shepard St. Vincent de Paul Conference I worked with her on helping poor in Forsyth County

Reason for recognition: Since Joni Smith came to the Place of Forsyth a few years ago she has changed the entire culture there and greatly expanded all the services to the poor and needy in our county. She and her staff have recruited hundreds of volunteers to help our neighbors

One thing to know: She has been heroic during this pandemic organizing an incredible food operation. I don't know the numbers, but they are very impressive.
